Duterte wants 2nd wave of cash aid for all families

President Rodrigo Duterte has directed Budget Secretary Wendel Avisado to study budgetary allocations of line agencies to identify funds that can be realigned for a second round of cash aid.

Duterte wants all 23 million Filipino families who received the first tranche of the emergency subsidy to get the second tranche, even if their areas have been downgraded to general community quarantine (GCQ).

The government had previously announced that the second tranche would only be for families in areas under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) or modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

Areas designated under MECQ from May 16 to May 31 include Metro Manila, Laguna, and Cebu City.

The DBM had earlier released some P200 billion to the Department of Social Welfare and Development for financial aid to families affected by lockdown measures.
