House Speaker supports DA's price setting for NFA rice

House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez supports the Department of Agriculture's (DA) initiative to set NFA rice prices, including RFA25 at PHP35/kg and RFA100 at PHP33/kg, as a step towards food security.

He stressed the importance of ensuring fair income for farmers alongside consumer affordability to sustain local rice production.

The National Food Authority will continue selling aging rice at PHP29/kg for vulnerable sectors like 4Ps beneficiaries, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and solo parents.

Romualdez emphasized the need for a balanced approach where high farmgate prices provide fair income for farmers, while market rice prices remain accessible to consumers.

The House of Representatives will continue to monitor the implementation of these price adjustments.
