Robredo, Pangilinan recall EDSA People Power spirit

Vice President Leni Robredo emphasized that the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution was a testament to the Filipino people's fight for freedom and love of country, not just a narrative about families.

She highlighted the courage of nuns kneeling before guns and soldiers who were moved to tears when rosaries were placed on their firearms.

Robredo believes that the spirit of People Power continues when Filipinos embody this love and solidarity, whether through peaceful revolutions or important elections.

Senator Kiko Pangilinan recalled his experience during the EDSA uprising as a student at UP, calling the event the "rebirth of our nation".

He stated that the revolt is like a "miracle", as the courage and solidarity of the people helped end a 20-year strongman rule.

Pangilinan added that it seemed "destined" that Filipinos could oust a dictator, and the seeds of courage, truth, and light sown during the 20-year one-man rule finally bore fruit.
