Iloilo to mark 36th EDSA anniversary with Freedom Rally

The Province of Iloilo will commemorate the 36th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution on February 25 with a Freedom Rally and other activities.

Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. issued Executive Order No. 2022-165 to lead the commemoration, which aims to remind people of the historical event, especially the younger generation.

Activities include a Freedom Countdown, a People Power Noise Barrage, and a Freedom Caravan.

The Freedom Countdown is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. and conclude at 9:25 p.m., the precise moment the Marcos family departed the Philippines in 1986.

All government agencies, establishments, sectors, and households are encouraged to join the People Power Noise Barrage, and churches have been asked to ring their bells at 9:25 p.m.

Governor Defensor clarified that the commemoration has no malice and is meant to prevent historical revisionism, noting that the Marcos family's departure from Malacañang Palace is a historical fact.
