Robredo calls for more support for local scientists

Vice President Leni Robredo urged the government to provide massive support and increase the budget for local scientists and science and technology innovation, especially in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.

Robredo expressed hope that the current health crisis would serve as an eye-opener for the government, particularly the Congress, to prioritize and allocate more funds for science and technology.

She highlighted that despite having many talented Filipino scientists, they often lack sufficient support and resources.

While acknowledging President Duterte's increased reward for a COVID-19 vaccine, Robredo emphasized that sustained support and equipment for scientists are more crucial than just incentives.
