Revilla seeks accountability for collapsed P1.2B Isabela bridge

Senator Ramon Bong Revilla Jr. is demanding accountability after the P1.2-billion Cabagan-Sta. Maria Bridge in Isabela partially collapsed on Thursday night, February 27.

The newly opened bridge, which took seven years to construct, collapsed when a dump truck carrying approximately 102 tons of boulders traversed it.

Six persons, including a child, were reportedly injured in the incident.

Revilla, who chairs the Senate Committee on Public Works, called for the contractor to be blacklisted and punished, and for the bridge to be repaired at no additional cost to the public.

He also urged the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to hold its engineers and personnel accountable for overseeing the project and to release the results of their investigation.

The DPWH has initiated a probe and sought assistance from experts in the Bureau of Design and Bureau of Construction to conduct a thorough evaluation.
