Estomo denies involvement in missing sabungeros case

Retired Lt. Gen. Jonnel Estomo denies allegations linking him to the disappearance of cockfighting aficionados (sabungeros) and is demanding a retraction and public apology from whistleblower Julie Patidongan.

Patidongan had identified Estomo as an "Alpha member" of the Pitmaster cockfighting group and implicated him in urging businessman Charlie "Atong" Ang to kill Patidongan.

Estomo presented a certification from Pitmaster Foundation Inc. stating he is not an officer or connected to its business activities to refute the claims.

The former NCRPO chief stated he is ready to face any investigation and present evidence to clear his name.

He is also preparing to take legal action against Patidongan for malicious accusations that have damaged his reputation.

On Monday, Patidongan and families of the missing sabungeros filed a complaint-affidavit at the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) implicating 18 police officers.
