The repatriation of the second batch of remains of over 200 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from Saudi Arabia has been postponed to July 20.
This decision was made to allow more remains to be brought home, according to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
The first batch of 49 OFWs' remains arrived in the Philippines on July 10, with 32 from Dammam and 17 from Riyadh.
Of the 49 remains, 20 were confirmed to have died from COVID-19 and 29 from other causes.
Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III stated that the government will continue to repatriate the remains of deceased OFWs from all over the world.
The next batch of remains to be repatriated will be from Jeddah and other regions, which was originally scheduled for July 14.
