Rep. Teodoro files perjury raps vs 2 policewomen

Marikina First District Rep. Marcelino Teodoro has filed perjury charges against two policewomen who previously accused him of rape by sexual assault and acts of lasciviousness.

Teodoro's lawyer, Alma Mallonga, stated that the charges were filed before the Manila prosecutor's office, alleging that the policewomen fabricated stories to damage the lawmaker's reputation.

Mallonga asserted that the complaints filed against Teodoro with the Department of Justice were unfounded, as the accusers allegedly admitted to lacking evidence.

Multiple witnesses reportedly testified that Teodoro was never alone with the complainants, indicating no opportunity for the alleged crimes to have occurred and thus suggesting perjury by the policewomen.

Perjury is a serious offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment, with potential penalties of up to 12 years, a fine, and disqualification from public office if committed by a public officer.
