Cavite Rep. Kiko Barzaga admits playing games led to late ethics hearing

Cavite Rep. Francisco "Kiko" Barzaga Jr. admitted to being late for his ethics hearing at the House of Representatives because he was playing computer games the previous night.

The ethics complaint against Barzaga was filed by members of the National Unity Party (NUP) and House Deputy Speaker Ronaldo Puno.

The complaint cites violations such as unbecoming conduct, acts contrary to good morals, inciting seditious activity, and conduct prejudicial to the House's best interests.

Barzaga is also accused of violating the Code of Conduct for public officials and employees over repeated comments on his Facebook page linking government officials to corruption, including House leaders and Cabinet officials.

Additionally, he allegedly made a Facebook post cautioning the public against burning down the Batasang Pambansa and posted content demeaning or posing with scantily clad women.

Barzaga and Puno have stated they prefer the hearing to proceed rather than seeking reconciliation.

The House Committee on Ethics has decided to form a sub-committee to deliberate on the complaint.
