Rep. Acidre questions VP Duterte on P612.5M confidential funds

Tingog Party-list Rep. Jude Acidre questioned Vice President Sara Duterte's confidence regarding her impeachment trial and her accountability for P612.5 million in confidential funds.

Acidre criticized Duterte's perceived "arrogance of certainty" and her refusal to provide a clear explanation for the P612.5 million in confidential funds allegedly spent within an 11-day period.

Vice President Duterte stated she is refusing to answer criticisms from Acidre and other House members, believing that Speaker Martin Romualdez is behind these queries.

She clarified that her refusal to explain is a deliberate choice, not an inability to do so.

Gabriela Rep. Arlene Brosas argued that Duterte cannot be confident while continuing to dismiss the clamor to explain the alleged bogus recipients of her multi-million confidential funds.

Zambales Rep. Jefferson Khonghun asserted that the seven articles of impeachment are backed by overwhelming evidence involving the alleged misuse of public funds and potential falsification of government documents.

The House of Representatives impeached Duterte on February 5, with allegations including the misuse of P612.5 million in confidential funds during her concurrent roles as Vice President and DepEd secretary.

Duterte also urged the public not to vote for the Tingog party-list, claiming it gives Speaker Romualdez control of three House seats.
