Traffic advisory: Alternative routes in QC for Marcos’ SONA 2024
The Quezon City government has released a traffic advisory detailing road closures and re-routing plans for President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s third State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, July 22.
Several agencies, including the MMDA, PNP, QCPD, and PSG, will be on hand to assist motorists during the event.
A zipper lane will be in effect on the southbound side of Commonwealth Avenue to manage traffic for officials and guests heading to the Batasang Pambansa Complex.
Additionally, a zipper lane will operate from Doña Carmen towards the Batasan Complex via IBP Road between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Stop-and-go traffic will be implemented at IBP Litex Road to allow vehicles to safely cross.
The roads of Batasan-IBP Road and Batasan-San Mateo Road corner J.P. Rizal will be closed to public vehicles starting at 8 a.m. as a security measure.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes to avoid anticipated heavy traffic around Commonwealth Avenue and the Batasang Pambansa Complex.
