QC cop faces murder raps for fatal traffic altercation

A Quezon City police officer, EM/Sgt. Randy Tuzon, has been charged with murder for allegedly shooting and killing van driver Ronnie Casero Borromeo and injuring Reynaldo Hagos during a traffic altercation on March 20 along Tandang Sora Avenue in Barangay Old Balara.

The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. when Tuzon, driving his own vehicle, allegedly blocked Borromeo's L300 van, exited his car, and punched Borromeo before firing multiple shots.

Borromeo sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead on arrival at Diliman Hospital, while Hagos is being treated for gunshot wounds to his left hip and thigh at East Avenue Medical Center.

Investigators recovered seven bullet casings and a fired bullet from the scene.

Tuzon surrendered to the police shortly after the incident and is currently detained at Batasan Police Station 6.

He faces charges of murder, frustrated murder, and violations of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and the Omnibus Election Code.
