PRC urges vaccination amid Delta variant threat

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) is urging the public to get vaccinated against COVID-19, emphasizing that vaccines are the best defense against the highly transmissible Delta variant, including its subvariants like Delta Plus.

As of June 27, over 10 million Filipinos have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, with 2.5 million completing their vaccination.

The Delta variant, first detected in India, has led to rapid spread in countries such as the United Kingdom, the United States, and India.

PRC Chairman Senator Richard Gordon stated that the organization is actively participating in the vaccination drive with seven PRC vaccination centers to accelerate the inoculation process.

Gordon also stressed the continued importance of adhering to public health protocols, such as wearing face masks and undergoing regular testing, to help curb the spread of the virus.
