PRC inaugurates Batangas molecular lab

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) has inaugurated a molecular laboratory in Batangas City, certified as an accredited COVID-19 testing center by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine.

The new facility is equipped with four RT-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) machines capable of conducting 4,000 tests daily.

With this new laboratory, the PRC's total daily testing capacity has increased to 32,000 tests.

This laboratory possesses the largest testing capacity in the Calabarzon region and can extend its services to nearby provinces.

Senator Richard J. Gordon, PRC chairman and CEO, emphasized that widespread testing is crucial for the economy's recovery and for preventing further virus transmission.

He also highlighted that testing allows for the isolation of infected individuals and enables employees to return to work, thereby reactivating factories and businesses.
