PNP to ticket PUVs for COVID-19 protocol violations in NCR Plus

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar has ordered police to issue tickets to public utility vehicles (PUVs) violating COVID-19 protocols in the NCR Plus area.

This directive applies to Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal.

Eleazar stated that motorists should already be aware of the consequences of violating health protocols.

He previously noted that warnings were ineffective, necessitating the issuance of citation tickets.

The PNP's Directorate for Operations issued a memorandum specifying the use of Temporary Operator Permits (TOPs), Official Violator's Receipts (OVRs), and Traffic Citation Tickets for violations.

These violations include overloading, disregard for minimum public health standards, and exceeding allowed passenger capacity.
