PNP to aid DOH in vaccinating 5-11 year olds

The Philippine National Police (PNP) will support the Department of Health (DOH) in the upcoming COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 5 to 11, scheduled to start in January 2022.

Trained vaccinators from the PNP Medical Reserve Force, who previously assisted in vaccination drives, will be deployed.

The PNP will also aid in the transportation and delivery of vaccines to vaccination sites and can provide additional venues if necessary.

PNP Chief Police General Dionardo Carlos emphasized the importance of this initiative for a younger demographic and assured that the PNP has a plan in place.

He urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and adhere to minimum public health standards when accompanying children for vaccination.

The Philippine FDA has already granted emergency use authorization for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for the 5 to 11 age group.

The government is still determining the number of doses required for this age bracket.
