PNP sets up checkpoints as MECQ returns to NCR, nearby provinces

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is establishing checkpoints in Metro Manila and the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal, which have reverted to Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) from August 4 to 18.

This is in response to the call of medical front-liners to help contain the spread of COVID-19.

In Bulacan, a total of 346 police officers were deployed to man 41 control points for city/municipality boundaries, 18 for provincial boundaries, and 12 for North Luzon Expressway exits.

Only one person per household will be allowed to go out for basic needs to prevent non-essential travel.

Quarantine passes will be mandatory for Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APOR) and must be presented at checkpoints.

The PNP urges the public to cooperate with authorities to save lives and ease the burden on health and police front-liners.
