PNP procures protective gear for COVID-19 response

Philippine National Police chief Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa has approved the procurement of at least 300 sets of protective gear for police officers.

These protective gears are intended for policemen who will be deployed to assist fellow officers who may be infected with the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Gamboa stated that the National Capital Region (NCR) will be preparing a team of properly protected policemen to ensure proper quarantine procedures if any police personnel are affected.

The PNP chief also urged policemen nationwide to practice basic sanitation measures, including frequent hand washing and using alcohol.

Furthermore, Gamboa mandated that each PNP unit across the country must establish its own quarantine areas.

As a preventive measure, the PNP has canceled major activities with many participants and discontinued programs like zumba.

Protocols are being established for flag-raising ceremonies and mass formations to ensure safety.
