The Philippine National Police (PNP) has launched its second molecular laboratory in Davao City to primarily serve PNP personnel in Mindanao for RT-PCR testing.
The new facility, located at the Police Regional Office 11 headquarters, has the capacity to conduct 170 tests daily with two runs per day.
This aligns with the directive of PNP Chief General Debold M. Sinas to increase RT-PCR testing for Mindanao-based personnel.
During its initial operation, including a dry run, a total of 118 police personnel were tested.
Of those tested, four have tested positive for COVID-19.
Lt. Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, PNP Deputy Chief for Administration and concurrent commander of the Administrative Support for COVID-19 Task Force (ASCOTF), stated that 85 more policemen were scheduled for swab testing on Tuesday, Feb. 23.
The laboratory is manned by 17 trained PNP personnel, including medical technologists and a molecular pathologist.
