PNP: Marbil, Torre prepared for possible charges over Duterte arrest
Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Rommel Marbil and CIDG Director Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III are ready to face any potential charges concerning the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
This statement comes after Senator Imee Marcos urged the Office of the Ombudsman to investigate them, along with three other officials, for alleged misconduct during the arrest.
PNP Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo assured that Marbil and Torre are prepared to defend their actions, asserting they acted within legal boundaries.
Fajardo emphasized the PNP's role was limited to assisting the Philippine Center for Transnational Crimes (PCTC) in implementing the red notice against Duterte.
The other officials recommended for investigation are Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla, and Special Envoy for Transnational Crimes Markus Lacanilao.
