PNP Mimaropa close contacts of PNP chief test negative for COVID-19

All 66 police personnel in Mimaropa who were close contacts of PNP Chief Debold Sinas have tested negative for COVID-19 following his command visit to Calapan City on March 11.

These close contacts included PRO 4-B Director Brig. Gen. Pascual Muñoz Jr. and other ranking police officials in the region.

The RT-PCR tests were conducted six days after the exposure, as the virus is best detected at least four days after close contact, according to PRO 4-B spokesperson Lt. Col. Imelda Tolentino.

Tolentino attributed the negative results to the effective implementation of health protocols during Sinas' visit.

PNP Chief Sinas is currently in isolation after testing positive for COVID-19 last week.

Sinas' visit to Calapan City faced criticism anew from local officials and senators for alleged repeated violations of health safety protocols.
