PNP logs 128 new COVID-19 cases, 116 deaths

The Philippine National Police (PNP) recorded 128 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total infections to 39,339.

Of the total cases, 36,999 have recovered, while 2,224 remain active.

The PNP also reported an increase in COVID-19 deaths to 116.

The latest fatality was a 58-year-old non-uniformed personnel from Region 8, who experienced symptoms on September 19.

Due to his worsening condition, his transfer to another hospital was cancelled, and he later tested positive for COVID-19.

He suffered cardiac arrest on September 21 and was pronounced dead by his attending physician.

Medical records indicated the patient had pre-existing conditions including gastrointestinal rheumatic disease, anxiety, spondylosis of the spine, and pneumonia.

Currently, 68.58 percent of PNP personnel nationwide are fully vaccinated, while 27.56 percent are awaiting their second dose.
