PNP intensifies preparations for 2025 elections with increased visibility in hotspots

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is intensifying its preparations for the 2025 midterm elections by increasing police visibility in identified election hotspots.

PNP Chief Police General Rommel Marbil has outlined a 100-day security plan focused on deploying personnel to vulnerable areas, conducting checkpoints, and enhancing intelligence operations.

The plan aims to ensure the safety of voting centers, address potential threats, and allow citizens to vote without fear.

PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo stated that the deployment of additional security personnel is a key part of their election security measures.

As of January 9, a total of 403 areas have been identified as election areas of concern.

Out of these, 188 areas fall under the 'yellow category,' which signifies past election-related incidents, potential presence of armed groups, intense political rivalries, and possible Comelec control, excluding domestic terror group involvement.
