PNP HPG seizes P120M in smuggled cigarettes in Pampanga

Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (PNP HPG) operatives seized over P120 million worth of suspected smuggled cigarettes in San Simon, Pampanga.

The operation began when authorities flagged down a truck for traffic violations, including a missing seatbelt, an unauthorized improvised plate, and a defective taillight.

The driver, who had no pertinent documents for the cargo, voluntarily opened the truck, revealing cigarettes concealed within planks.

The driver then led the authorities to a warehouse where the cigarettes were allegedly loaded.

PNP HPG Director Police Brigadier General Hansel Marantan noted the organized method of transport, likening it to tactics used in illegal drug distribution.
