Anakpawis members face raps for rally attempt amid ECQ
The Philippine National Police (PNP) has filed criminal charges against Anakpawis party-list members for attempting a mass action disguised as a relief operation in Norzagaray, Bulacan.
The charges include violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code (RPC) for refusal to observe home quarantine guidelines and insisting to pass through checkpoints, Executive Order 922 Section 4, and attempted inciting to sedition under Article 142 of the RPC.
Six Anakpawis members, identified as Karl Mae San Juan, Marlon Lester Gueta, Roberto Medel, Eribeto Peña Jr., Raymar Guaves, and Tobi Estrada, are facing these charges.
Former Anakpawis Representative Ariel Casilao is also facing the same charges, along with a separate complaint for usurpation of authority.
The group was intercepted by police at a quarantine control point in Barangay Bigte while on board a passenger jeepney.
Subversive materials, including pamphlets and magazines, were allegedly found among the relief items they intended to distribute.
