PNP, DILG launch 5-minute police response time in Visayas

Philippine National Police chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III met with Visayas commanders at Camp Martin Delgado to discuss the implementation of a five-minute police response time.

The initiative aims to cut down emergency response times and bring police services closer to communities in both urban and rural areas.

Torre emphasized the need for commanders to tailor strategies to local needs, acknowledging that approaches for cities may not apply to far-flung areas.

To support the plan, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) will provide new patrol vehicles to regional units.

DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla confirmed the agency's full support for the modernization of police transportation for the rapid response program.

The five-minute response time commences once responders are dispatched after information is received by the command center.

Calls made to hotline 911 are routed to the command center at Camp Crame, with 911-Cebu handling Visayas-specific incidents.

The PNP will respond to all calls, but warned that pranksters will face consequences.
