DILG to buy more patrol vehicles for PNP's 5-minute response strategy

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) will purchase additional patrol vehicles to enhance police mobility and visibility, supporting the Philippine National Police's (PNP) Five-Minute Response Time Strategy.

PNP Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III, who recently assumed office, established the five-minute response time target and prioritized mobile patrolling over staying at posts.

During a recent command conference, General Torre emphasized the importance of effective internal communication and ordered random simulation exercises to test radio communication readiness.

The National Capital Region Police Office Regional Director, Police Major General Anthony Aberin, presented a plan that includes the full implementation of the 5-minute response strategy, increased logistical readiness, regular training, and simulation exercises.

As part of the transition to a fully mobile police force, Aberin also underscored eight-hour duty shifts for constant operational presence, intensified Red Team operations, and the deactivation of Police Community Precincts (PCPs), substations, and police boxes.
