PNP launches manhunt for NPA rebels behind killing of cop, civilian in Negros Occidental
The Philippine National Police (PNP) has intensified its operation by deploying additional personnel to hunt down members of the New People's Army (NPA) responsible for the death of a police officer and a civilian in Negros Occidental.
Senior Master Sgt. Rommel Aguilar of the 1st Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) was killed along with civilian Mando Ugdiman, 58, during an encounter with NPA gunmen.
The incident occurred in Barangay Menchaca, Calatrava, Negros Occidental, when the PMFC was tracking a wanted person.
Acting PNP Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. stated that the PNP is gathering evidence for a case build-up and will take all necessary legal and operational measures to prevent future incidents.
