PNP deploys medical team to PICC quarantine facility

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is deploying its medical team to the quarantine facility at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) to assist in the care of COVID-19 patients.

PNP chief Gen. Archie Gamboa stated that final preparations are being made for the deployment of their medical corps and health care personnel, with the PNP managing security and the PNP Health Service overseeing medical operations.

The PICC quarantine area, capable of accommodating up to 294 patients with mild to moderate COVID-19 cases, will have its medical operations overseen by the PNP Health Service.

Gamboa expressed the PNP's honor in undertaking this responsibility to support national efforts against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The health facility at PICC will offer supportive care under the close supervision of the PNP Health Service and the Department of Health.

As of the article's publication, the Philippines had recorded 4,195 COVID-19 infections, with 221 deaths and 140 recoveries.

The PNP Health Service recorded two new COVID-19 cases among PNP personnel, bringing the total to 27.
