PNP to deploy 60,000 cops for Labor Day

The Philippine National Police (PNP) will deploy nearly 60,000 officers nationwide to ensure public safety and maintain peace and order on Labor Day.

This deployment is part of the 59,000 policemen across the country tapped to secure the Labor Day celebration and the long weekend.

In Metro Manila, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will deploy 10,529 policemen to manage civil disturbance, conduct anti-criminality interventions, and ensure counter-terrorism efforts, traffic management, and emergency response.

NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Edgar Alan Okubo assured that his men would exercise maximum tolerance in dealing with any protest action, following the principles of force continuum and respecting human rights.

Okubo urged protesters to observe existing laws and ordinances of local government units regarding freedom of expression and mass actions.

The PNP will strictly implement operational guidelines for traffic management, civil disturbance management, anti-criminality, and counter-terrorism.

The police force also sought the assistance of other government agencies and reminded the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities.
