PNP deploys 56,785 personnel for New Year travel safety

Acting PNP Chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez, Jr. stated that the PNP anticipates a surge in travelers returning to their provinces for the New Year celebration.

The PNP will deploy 56,785 personnel across the country's major roads, transport terminals, and other high-traffic areas.

Of these, 11,129 personnel have been assigned to motorist assistance hubs to provide aid for travelers.

Police units have been directed to increase visibility, enforce traffic laws, and conduct sobriety checkpoints in accident-prone areas.

The PNP, through the Highway Patrol Group, is coordinating with local government units, the Department of Transportation, and other agencies to manage traffic flow.

Policemen will also assist in inspecting the roadworthiness of passenger buses and the readiness of drivers to ensure safe travel.
