PNP intensifies 'Kontra Bigay' campaign vs vote buying

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is intensifying its efforts to safeguard the integrity of the upcoming May 12 elections through the "Kontra Bigay" campaign.

PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil has instructed all police personnel to actively enforce and internalize the campaign's principles, aligning with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s goal of clean and fair elections.

This initiative fully supports the Commission on Elections' (Comelec) Committee on Kontra Bigay (CKB), established to combat vote buying and selling.

The CKB empowers law enforcement agencies, including the PNP, AFP, and NBI, to conduct surveillance, verify reports, and act decisively against election law violations.

The "Kontra Bigay 2.0" initiative will strictly monitor presumed acts of vote buying and selling, such as distributing money or goods to influence voters.

Individuals apprehended in the act of vote buying or selling may be subject to warrantless arrest by law enforcement agencies.
