PNP convoy using Edsa busway carried senior officers

The Philippine National Police (PNP) confirmed that a convoy using the exclusive Edsa busway on Tuesday evening was carrying senior officers.

PNP chief Gen. Rommel Marbil refused to confirm if the convoy was his, citing security concerns over the disclosure of its plate number.

PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo stated that the identities of the officers cannot be disclosed for security reasons.

The convoy was reportedly en route to Camp Crame for an urgent closed-door meeting concerning an ongoing security operation.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) limits the Edsa busway's use to public utility buses, emergency vehicles, and clearly marked government vehicles.

Despite the guidelines, the convoy initially engaged with traffic enforcers before agreeing to return for the violation ticket after dropping off the officers.

Marbil stressed the need for discretion during an emergency and urged traffic enforcers to exercise courtesy and protect the identities of those involved in such incidents.
