P13.6B worth of illegal drugs confiscated by PNP in six months
The Philippine National Police (PNP) confiscated PHP13.6 billion worth of illegal drugs from January 1 to June 21, 2024.
These seizures were the result of 23,515 operations conducted, leading to the arrest of 28,804 individuals.
The confiscated drugs include 1,779.74 kg of shabu, 3,559.04 kg of dried marijuana, 4,951,655 marijuana plants, 26.62 kg of cocaine, and 4.17 kg of ecstasy.
During the week of June 17 to 21, operations yielded PHP52,343,800.56 in narcotics and led to 123 arrests.
Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. commended the top-performing PNP units in this campaign: Police Regional Offices 4A and 7, and the PNP Drug Enforcement Group.
Intensified efforts against wanted persons during the same week also led to the arrest of 1,197 individuals, including 347 most wanted persons.
