PNP confirms 3 Delta variant cases among personnel

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has confirmed three cases of the Delta variant of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) among its personnel.

These three police officers initially tested positive for Covid-19 in July and completed their 14-day isolation period.

Genome sequencing results released in August revealed the presence of the Delta variant, prompting the Department of Health (DOH) to require repeat RT-PCR tests for them.

One of the officers has since contracted Covid-19 again and is currently in an isolation facility, while another tested negative and is undergoing home quarantine pending further tests.

The third officer is also on home quarantine while awaiting the results of another RT-PCR test.

As of Thursday night, the total number of Covid-19 infections within the police force has reached 32,077.
