The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) has filed sedition charges against 97 individuals in connection with the Mendiola-Recto riots on September 21.
These charges include inciting to sedition, conspiracy and proposal to commit sedition, and sedition under the Revised Penal Code.
PNP-CIDG Director Major General Robert Alexander Morico stated that the arrested individuals are believed to be instigators and financiers of the riots.
The complaints were submitted to the Department of Justice (DOJ) last week, following an earlier filing of charges against 40 individuals on the preceding Thursday.
Morico indicated that the investigation is ongoing, with further cases anticipated against those behind the violent incidents.
