AKG operative killed, 2 Chinese nationals rescued in Pampanga

A police operative was killed and another was wounded during a rescue operation for two Chinese kidnap victims in Angeles City, Pampanga.

The shootout occurred when Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) operatives raided a safehouse where the victims were held by two Chinese gunmen.

The operation was initiated following coordination with the Chinese Police Attache concerning a kidnapping case involving Chinese nationals.

The victims, both female Chinese nationals, were kidnapped in Makati City on August 3 and were subsequently brought to the safehouse in Pampanga.

The suspects had demanded a ransom equivalent to P8 million from the victims' families.

Staff Sgt. Nelson Santiago was pronounced dead on arrival at the Angeles University Foundation Medical Center, while Chief Master Sgt. Eden Accad was injured.

The rescued victims were unharmed, and the two Chinese suspects, identified as Hu Kai and Ryu Don, were apprehended following the gun battle.

Seized from the suspects were two handguns, drug paraphernalia, and jungle knives.
