PNP, AFP on high alert for Typhoon Ulysses

The Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) are on high alert in Luzon and parts of Visayas in anticipation of Typhoon Ulysses.

Typhoon Ulysses is forecasted to make landfall over Pollilo Islands and mainland Quezon province between Wednesday night and early Thursday morning.

AFP chief General Gilbert Gapay stated that disaster response units across Luzon and some Visayas areas remain on standby.

The military is actively coordinating with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and local government units for typhoon preparations.

Military personnel and equipment from various commands, including Southern Luzon Command, Northern Luzon Command, and JTF National Capital Region, have been pre-positioned in safe locations.

PNP chief Gen. Debold Sinas has ordered all police commanders in affected areas to assist in the implementation of mandatory evacuation, especially in coastal areas and places prone to landslides and flash floods.

Police commanders are also tasked to help secure evacuation centers and assist in the prepositioning of equipment and food items.
