PH clarifies Ayungin mission arrangement with China

Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo clarified that the arrangement with Beijing concerning missions to Ayungin Shoal involves an "exchange of information," not a "notification" as claimed by China.

Manalo stated that the Philippines will continue its resupply missions to Ayungin Shoal, emphasizing that the "exchange of information" approach was used with China.

He noted that the recent resupply mission was a relative success, indicating commitment to future missions provided China adheres to the understanding.

Despite the presence of Chinese ships near the shoal during the resupply, they did not disrupt the Philippine vessels.

The clarification addresses a disagreement over the terms of the arrangement between the Philippines and China regarding the resupply and troop rotation at the BRP Sierra Madre.
