Philippines logs 870 new COVID-19 cases

The Philippines recorded 870 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, March 6, 2022, bringing the total active cases to 48,793.

Of the newly reported cases, 92% were recorded between February 21 and March 6, with Metro Manila having the highest number of infections.

The country's recovery count reached 3,561,726 after 1,433 additional recoveries were reported, and the death toll increased to 57,023 with 144 new fatalities.

A total of 3.9% of 24,543 samples tested on March 4 were positive for COVID-19.

Of the active cases, 401 were asymptomatic, 44,131 were mild, 2,693 were moderate, 1,279 were severe, and 289 were critical.

COVID-19 bed occupancy remains low nationwide, with 25% of ICU beds and 14% of ward beds in use.

The OCTA Research Group noted that infections might increase if health protocols are not followed and booster shots are not administered.
