Philippines administers over 4 million COVID-19 vaccine doses

The Philippines has administered a total of 4,097,425 COVID-19 vaccine doses nationwide as of May 22.

Of these, 3,147,486 doses were administered as the first dose and 949,939 doses for the second dose.

The daily vaccination rate has increased to 162,514 doses, a significant rise from 60,000 to 70,000 last month.

National Task Force Against Covid-19 Chief Implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. stated that hitting the four million mark is a milestone and brings the country closer to achieving herd immunity before the year ends.

Despite reaching this milestone, the vaccination numbers are still far from the target of vaccinating 50 to 70 million individuals this year to achieve herd immunity.

In terms of total vaccines administered, the Philippines ranks second in ASEAN, 13th in Asia, and 37th worldwide.

The government administered over 1.1 million doses in the past seven days.
