Philippine boxing team eyes better SEA Games performance after Liverpool experience

Despite missing the podium in the World Championships in Liverpool, the Philippine men's boxing team remains optimistic about performing better in the upcoming Southeast Asian Games in Thailand.

The six-man team, which included four first-time world competitors, returned without medals but gained valuable experience that ABAP believes will aid future performances.

ABAP Secretary-General Marcus Manalo emphasized the need for improved training methods and team reflection to enhance future results.

The team identified several areas for improvement, including better communication between boxers and coaches, adjustments in training for strong finishes, and tactical changes during bouts.

The Liverpool squad consisted of Jay Baricuatro, Junmilardo Ogayre, Mark Ashley Fajardo, Ronald Chavez Jr., Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Carlo Paalam in men's competition, and Riza Pasuit in women's competition.
