136 Filipino athletes to compete in 3rd Asian Youth Games

A delegation of 136 Filipino athletes will compete in the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Manama, Bahrain, from October 22 to 31.

Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino expressed confidence that the team of young athletes aims to match or surpass the country's previous record of two gold medals and three silver medals from the 2013 edition in Nanjing, China.

Boxer Leo Mhar Lobrido and volleyball player Harlyn Serneche have been selected as the flag bearers for the Philippine contingent.

Lobrido, who will turn 16 on October 10, previously won a gold medal at the Greater Bay Area Youth Boxing Challenge in Shenzhen, China.

Ramon "Tats" Suzara will serve as the chef de mission of Team Philippines.
