PhilHealth revises COVID-19 benefit packages

The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has introduced improved benefit packages for COVID-19 patients, applicable for treatments from February 1 to April 14, 2020.

These initial rates included P8,150 for testing and P22,449 for community isolation, with additional rates for pneumonia severity.

Beginning April 15, PhilHealth will implement new rate packages for hospitalized COVID-19 patients, categorized by pneumonia severity: mild (P43,997), moderate (P143,267), severe (P333,519), and critical (P786,384).

PhilHealth President and CEO Ricardo Morales stated that the packages are pegged as pneumonia because it is the common complication of COVID-19.

The state insurer also confirmed coverage for COVID-19 tests conducted in accredited non-hospital facilities.

However, the government may still adjust these rates within 30 days from the date of implementation following a review.
