PhilHealth reminds hospitals to accept PUIs for nCoV

PhilHealth has reminded all accredited Level 2 to 3 hospitals to accept persons under investigation (PUI) for the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) and provide them with assessment and management.

Refusal to provide care to these patients will be considered a violation of their Performance Commitment.

PhilHealth is extending a special package to PUIs, which includes P1,000 daily for each hospital taking care of an nCoV patient or PUI for the 14-day quarantine period.

If pneumonia sets in, a separate package ranging from P16,000 for mild cases to P32,000 for severe cases will apply.

PhilHealth President Ricardo Morales emphasized that the corporation is collaborating with the Department of Health (DOH) and other agencies to protect Filipinos from the emerging disease.

As of Wednesday, the DOH reported a total of 133 PUIs for nCoV infection, with 115 admitted and isolated, and 16 discharged and under strict monitoring.
