DOH: 105 PUIs for novel coronavirus, 1 death confirmed in PH

The Department of Health (DOH) has reported an increase in the number of persons under investigation (PUIs) for the novel coronavirus to 105.

Out of the 105 PUIs, 90 are currently isolated in various hospitals, while 12 have been discharged.

The Philippines has confirmed one death due to the 2019 nCoV ARD, which is the first fatality recorded outside of China.

The deceased was a 44-year-old male from Wuhan, China, who was admitted with symptoms of fever, cough, and sore throat, and later developed severe pneumonia.

While the patient showed signs of improvement, his condition rapidly deteriorated, leading to his death.

In China, a total of 425 have died after being infected by the virus, with over 20,000 others infected.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III stated that 31 PUIs came from Wuhan, China, the epicenter of the outbreak.
