PhilHealth releases P30 billion aid to hospitals

PhilHealth is releasing an initial P30 billion in financial aid to accredited hospitals to address immediate needs amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The amount is equivalent to three months' worth of claims, based on PhilHealth's historical data.

Hospitals can avail of this financial aid by submitting a letter of intent, which will be charged to future claims.

This initiative aims to provide healthcare providers with much-needed liquidity to adequately respond to the pandemic.

PhilHealth also extended the deadline for contributions for self-paying direct contributors to April 30 and waived policies on single period of confinement and 45-day coverage.

The filing period for claims has been extended to at least 120 days, and PhilHealth will provide a P14,000 health package for quarantine and up to P32,000 for patients who test positive for the coronavirus.
