PH to get 56M vaccine doses by May

The Philippines is set to receive at least 56 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines from American companies by May, according to Philippine Ambassador to the US Jose Manuel Romualdez.

These vaccine doses will be delivered through the COVAX facility, an initiative aimed at ensuring equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines globally.

Ambassador Romualdez confirmed that the Philippines has secured separate deals with Novavax for 30 million doses, Moderna for 20 million doses, and Johnson and Johnson for six million doses.

Philippine diplomats in the US are also actively working to procure vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech via the COVAX facility.

These efforts are part of a broader initiative that began in May 2020 to secure an immediate supply of vaccines, establish a sustainable supply chain, and explore co-manufacturing opportunities with Philippine entities.
