PH to deploy 600,000 Sinovac doses nationwide this week

The Philippines plans to deploy all 600,000 Sinovac vaccine doses to various hospitals nationwide within the first week of March.

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. stated that the vaccines will be distributed to different regions, with initial allocations set for Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

The vaccination program commenced on Monday, utilizing the Sinovac shots that arrived on Sunday.

As of Tuesday evening, 2,793 individuals have been inoculated across 11 hospitals.

Sinovac vaccines are scheduled for transport to Cebu on March 3 and 4, and to Davao on March 5 and 6.

The vaccination rollout will begin at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City and the Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City, which are prioritized due to their approximately 1,000 employees each.

Any remaining vaccine doses are intended for distribution to other severely affected areas, including Region 3, Region 4-A, and Baguio City.

AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines will be used to supplement doses if there are any remaining beyond the initial 600,000 Sinovac vaccines.
